Hodmen and Ghost Writers

You believe in hodmen and ghost writers
yet again you inform the world outside
someone said something about your art
which sounds assuming and unright
They've opinions and fair observations
even if they talk about you now
but you have revenge to feed with slurs
leashing your fans and facebook friends
You believe in hodmen and ghost writers
you forget about the world outside
don't you worry about a thing they write
within the fraction of a night
You believe in hodmen and ghost writers
yet again you inform the world outside
someone said something about your art
which sounds assuming and unright
Browsing comments and evaluations
they won't jeopardize the life you've got
cut your hands and put your eyes on fire
before you clinch yourself the knot
You believe in hodmen and ghost writers
you forget about the world outside
don't you worry about a thing they write
within the fraction of a night
don't you ever think it's right

I would like to see one day your death could be a good pretext
to save us all, despite the fact that we're all dud and chaffy
like the birthday gifts that you won't get
police bash on the common sense of humiliation in every part of every nation
the only way to save your comeliness is to run as fast as you can
but you cannot find safety in a pool of your own blood
you would love to wake up
i'd love to wake up
in a country where my so-called saviors would never break my bones
And now i'm pretty sure there's something better than watch the floor
and get your life extorted from a cop
counting the sidewalk briquets in the place where you should never fall
and now each and every part of me will never stop, will never drop, will never flop
take those goddamn cops
Now your blurry eyes won't get the right position in space and time
he's gonna use his service cosh to explain his rules and let you say goodbye
but now you think it's cold and slightly realizing you've lost everything
your brown eyes guide your soft voice but you will never sing
And now i'm pretty sure there's something better than watch the floor
and get your life extorted from a cop
counting the sidewalk briquets in the place where you should never fall
and now each and every part of me will never stop, will never drop, will never flop
you're already gone
my biggest hate goes to those goddamn cops who watched you go
and now i'm pretty sure there's something better than watch the floor
and get your life extorted from a cop
counting the sidewalk briquets in the place where you should never fall
and now each and every part of me will never stop, will never drop, will never flop
counting the sidewalk briquets in the place where you should never fall
each and every part of me wished you would never fall

He's gonna haunt your house again
he's gonna haunt your thoughts again in your sleep
if you try to say no
he's gonna kill your dad in your sleep
He's gonna build your house again
he's gonna build your thoughts again with no sense
if you try to say no
he's gonna stop your breathe in your sleep
Do you get it?
the people he gathered
to march on together
are open books
with no pages and lines
again you will read no such notion at all
smash yourself against the wall
you will find no idea in your squeezed entrails
they'll feel like home
He's gonna haunt your house again
he's gonna haunt your thoughts again in your sleep
if you try to say no
he's gonna kill your cat in your sleep
Do you get it?
the people he gathered
to march on together
are open books
with no pages and lines
again you will read no such notion at all
smash yourself against the wall
you will find no idea in your squeezed entrails
they'll feel like home
He's gonna kill your dad again
he's gonna kill your cat again for your sins
and if you try to say no
you're gonna kill yourself in your sleep

The Same Blanket

You've been lying by my side
we've been sharing the same blanket
now your plane is taking off
as i pray for your eyes to see
I'm down here, i'm almost crying
while i drive home on the freeway
just one month is not much time
i can wait for my eyes to see
But you got words
that could sail upon the water
take the time you spent with boys
in other lives
and the wounds you felt
then just look the other way
Now let time just pass us by
don't you worry about the distance
we could be downcast sometimes
as we pray for our hands to enlace
You've been lying by my side
we've been sharing the same blanket
now your plane is touching land
as i pray for our eyes to meet

A Nice Guy

Have you ever seen the light?
have you ever felt enchanted?
cause that night i saw it
cause that night i felt it all
now there's our house that's pale and white
like your skin in late september
no such tan can catch you
and i love the way you don't care
and don't you ever shiver
for the cold outside these walls
i will always be there
trying to be at least a nice guy
Now watch the world once black and white
as it spires up in the chimney
watch it through the keyhole
lock it out with lute and compo
now there's a life that waits for us
and there's a book to fill with pictures
even if it's so long
even if it's so demanding
but don't you ever bother
about the ups and downs in life
i will always be there
trying to be at least a nice guy
have you ever seen the light?
have you ever felt enchanted?
cause that night i saw it
cause that night i felt it all
And every day that we'll share
we'll both be drunk and sober
and we will never have to fight
have you ever seen the light?
have you ever felt enchanted?
cause that night i saw it
cause that night i felt it all
And don't you wanna be there
when we'll welcome each tomorrow?
don't you ever shiver
when we'll welcome each tomorrow, no
Have you ever seen the light?
have you ever felt enchanted?
cause that night i saw it
cause that night i felt it all
and don't you ever bother
about the ups and downs in life
i will always be there
trying to be at least a nice guy

27 and counting

this little city saw us young
while playing football in the park
and getting fines for parking motorbikes on grass fields
when afternoons were truly droll
while drinking beer and smoking pot
in the old rope-yard with grim dogs barking away
we used to put together shitty bands
to play some shitty songs
singing about dirty jokes and violent moshpits
and if you'd tell me "one day we will play
our songs so far from home"
guess what? i wouldn't laugh at you again
This little city saw us lonely and burning
losers with nice thoughts and pretty faces
perfect friends but awful lovers
“Something to write home about”
and other records that we used to love
Were our only bedroom company
and "summer wind was always our song"
was always our song as we thought
we should get a girl or something
and if you'd tell me "one day we will aim
and find the perfect one"
guess what? i wouldn't laugh at you again
You got me older
So years go by and people change
but some of them they stay the same
and we're the same boys who take roots in smoking areas
so you can find us anytime
with the same drink in the same bar
at the same hour, with the same people at the table
we've been drunk and we've been happy
we've been drunk and we've been sad
we've been drunk and we've been miserable on sundays
and if you'd tell me "one day we will slog
to drink the weekend off"
guess what? i wouldn't laugh at you again
And now we're older but not bolder
we look back but not in anger
we still live the same things and the same feelings
some of us will marry soon and some of us will never will
some of us will get divorced pretty early
some of us have pushed their lives abroad
but we still keep in touch
some of us will never leave these doleful places
and if you'd tell me "one day we'll grow up
like everyone else does"
guess what? i wouldn't laugh at you again
You got me older
you got us older
